She then went on to intern with the Department of Human Services, working with children in foster care setting, families working towards reunification and adoption. After graduation, she began to work at a local youth shelter and run their teen group. It was there that she discovered her passion for helping families and children, and really saw need for more preventative services. She accepted a home visitation position with an area early education program and spent 6 years coming along side families to support them as they worked towards their goals, connecting them to resources, and offering child development and educational information.
Before Christine was born her parents decided to become foster parents. She was born into an ever changing family structure and dynamics. When asked about her upbringing, she says technically she is an only child but is quick to mention that she grew up in all the roles as the oldest, middle, and youngest at various times through her formative years. She also says that of all those roles - her favorite was being the oldest!
